Your Wedding Music

The wedding reception has a lot more flexibility in the styles and choices of songs that can be used. People use music in many different parts of the reception to evoke specific reactions in the guests. Common place for music to be used at a reception include the entrance of the bridal party (either individual songs for each person or one for the entire party), background music during cocktails and dinner, introduction music for speeches, the cutting of the cake, bridal dance and the bride and groom, farewell. Music at receptions are usually provided by professionals in the form of either a disc-jockey (DJ) or band. Both entertainment options have their advantages and disadvantages which must be considered in the reception planning.
The number songs used throughout the wedding day can vary depending on the tastes and needs of the couple getting married. In a wedding ceremony it is common for music to be used for the processional hymn, lighting of the candle, signing of the registry, communion (if applicable) and the recessional hymn. Each song chosen needs to compliment the meaning and significance of that part of the wedding ceremony. It is important to remember that if you are getting married inside a church building that sometimes there are restrictions on the style and types of songs that can be used, it is always worth communicating with the celebrant early in the planning process what songs you would like to use, this can prevent disappointment and heart ache closer to the wedding day.
